Tehran is prepared to resume nuclear negotiations with Washington as long as it is treated with "respect" and "respect", Tehran's foreign minister has announced.

Earlier Talks Suddenly Terminated

The prior phases of talks between the US and Iran were brought to an abrupt and acrimonious end on 12 June when Israel, with Washington's assistance, attacked Iran's enrichment centers in a 12-day war that concluded with the American leader asserting the sites had been eliminated. Subsequently, Western states exercised their right to reimpose UN-wide sanctions, but Iran maintains they have not had a significant effect.

Perfect Agreement Proposed

Iranian officials claimed they felt they had attained a "perfect agreement" to the nuclear fuel concern in earlier negotiations, when it was settled an domestic cooperative with US participation could refine atomic fuel. Each party would have been able to declare success since domestic enrichment would have remained and the US could be assured that Iran's atomic project was entirely non-military.

It had not been settled in the talks that US nuclear scientists could work within Iranian territory, but that was a reasonable assumption of the consortium proposal. In his address to the forum, intended to paint the US as a hegemonic power that exploits the idea of worldwide standards, Araghchi said the two-week conflict showed the conflict could not be resolved by combat operations. He asserted the assaults began with a American requirement for an unconditional Iranian surrender and culminated with an unconditional call for a halt to hostilities.

Iran is assured the first strikes by Israel were executed with total Washington understanding and collaboration, making trust difficult to reestablish.

Negotiations Remains the Ultimate Resolution

Araghchi said: "Tehran was not the one that had abandoned negotiations; it was America and the Western nations that had consistently attempted to dictate their desires during the talks. Diplomacy can still be active and continues the primary solution to resolve disagreements, but its criteria, guidelines and fundamentals must be followed."

"In case they speak to the Iranian people with the tone of respect and respect, they will get a reply in the identical language."

Recovery and Recovery
